Route description From the Kahlenberg to the Sophienalpe
Starting in Kahlenbergerdorf, we will hike along Nasenweg and ascend the Leopoldsberg. When we reach the Josefinenhütte inn, we will need to cross the road at the intersection, where our route leads to the left towards Höhenstrasse. From the footbridge across the road, we will go straight on (Long-Distance Hiking Route No. 04 – WWW 04), turning right at Café Schönstatt. After approx. 1.5 km, we will reach the “Gasthaus zum Agnesbrünnl” inn. To reach the Habsburgwarte lookout post, it is possible to take either a flatter route past a playground, or a steeper path (yellow route). From the top, we will go back down, passing two inns – “Grüass Di a Gott Wirt” and “Häuserl am Roan”. Then we will trek uphill again to the Hameau. Once we have reached the Exelberg, where we will need to cross over the Höhenstrasse again, the Sophienalpe is just approx. 20 minutes away.
