Brief description
A classic hiking route! A relatively difficult half-day trail, which is very long for children. Sometimes it goes steeply uphill and downhill, especially as you head down the Hermannskogel. The Hermannskogel and the Leopoldsberg offer great views of Vienna.

Tip/Fun-Fact: The Vienna Woods is the largest deciduous forest area in Central Europe. Situated on the outskirts of Vienna, it is home to 1.8 million residents, and has been named as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, due to its wide variety of species.

Route description Kahlenberg – Hermannskogel Circular Hike
We will start at the Information Board of Stadtwanderweg 1a (Town Hiking Route) on Bloschgasse, and head south-west along Geigeringasse and across St. Georg-Platz to Waldbachsteig (green route). We will follow Stadtwanderweg 1a towards Kahlenberg, until we reach Kahlenberger Strasse, where we will rejoin the yellow hiking route and then head uphill. At the T-junction, we will turn left towards Jägerwiese, and then towards Kreuzeiche, and ultimately return to the blue route towards Jägerwiese. When we reach the inn, we will follow the red hiking route up to the T-junction, before turning left to the Habsburgwarte lookout post and heading back towards Jägerwiese and the inn. We will then follow the red route towards Kahlenberg, until we reach a clearing (blue route) and turn right. On Höhenstrasse, we will continue to bear left (green route) as we cross the bridge and enter the forest (blue route). Heading towards Leopoldsberg (red route), we will go along Nasenweg and back to the starting point.
